College Board

School Scheduled State Testing Day (Spring)

Summative Assessments are given at the end of a learning cycle to certify that learning has occurred.
State and federal law require all students be tested in specific grades and subjects once a year to measure student progress in learning state content standards or other career- or college-ready goals. /The Michigan Merit Exam, or MME, is the state high school exam. Some students with disabilities take an alternative state assessment called MI-Access; English language learners are given an assessment called WIDA.

  • The College Board’s PSAT 8/9 and PSAT 10 are given to students in grades 8, 9, and 10 to fulfill this requirement.
The PSAT must be taken on the scheduled state testing day.

  • The SAT is part of the Michigan Merit Exam required for graduation.  All juniors take the SAT in April on a SAT school day. There is no cost to families for this SAT test.  Students are registered by the school automatically

  • The Michigan Merit Exam (MME) assesses students in grade 11 and eligible students in grade 12 based on Michigan high school standards.
The MME is administered each spring, and consists of three components:

•   College Board SAT® with Essay Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math
•   ACT® WorkKeys® job skills assessment Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents
•   M-STEP Science and Social Studies
