Junior Year Timeline
SEPTEMBER:
- Check credits for graduation
- Attend college “rep visits” at the Counseling Office. (Sign up via your Naviance account)
- Continue updating Educational Development Plan (EDP). This plan is developed throughout your high school career by utilizing tools specific career and college exploration assignments in your Naviance account. Your EDP is a document showing. a student’s education and career goals and a way to achieve those goals. It is more comprehensive than a schedule of classes because it includes information a student can use to make wise choices about career options.
OCTOBER:
- Plan to take the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) on the scheduled date.
- Attend evening presentation of the Financial Aid Information Session hosted by CHS Counseling Office.
NOVEMBER:
- If necessary, adjust classes for Term 2 and Term 3 during “open” scheduling dates.
- Study for finals. The final term grade will be used to compute student's cumulative grade-point average.
NOVEMBER – DECEMBER:
- Investigate career options
JANUARY:
- Attend junior class meeting with Counselors.
- Begin process for selecting classes for senior year.
FEBRUARY:
- Students and parents may schedule individual career planning conferences.
- College campus visits should be arranged. College visit forms are available in the Counseling Office and on the website.
MARCH:
- Study for finals. The final term grade will be used to compute student's cumulative grade-point average.
- Take the Michigan Merit Exam which is part of the State of Michigan graduation requirements. (The SAT test is part of this exam process. There is no registration fee.)
APRIL :
MAY:
- If necessary, adjust senior schedule during “open” scheduling dates.
JUNE
- Retake for SAT test.
- Register the ACT test.
JUNE – AUGUST:
- Begin to finalize career/college selection plans.
- If possible, visit colleges. Most colleges operate with a summer session in June and July, and you can visit the college and view it in operation.
