Updates from Counseling for the week of 11/25/24 through 11/26/24

Week of 11/25/24 through 11/26/24

IMPORTANT UPDATES AND DEADLINES

Dual Enrollment Classes at WCC (Winter Semester)
The CHS deadline to request dual enrollment classes for the winter semester at Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is Monday, December 9th. These classes may be taken during Trimester 2 or Trimester 3 at CHS, but please note that WCC’s winter semester begins on January 11th, and several enrollment steps must be completed.
No applications for dual enrollment for the 2024-25 school year will be processed after December 9th.
At this point, students should have finalized their schedules for the rest of the school year. The last schedule change window for this year closed on Tuesday, November 26th. Schedule changes will only be made if a student fails a course and needs to retake it.

Career Day at CHS
Career Day will take place on Tuesday, December 10th. The SignUp Genius for this event has been open since Wednesday, November 20th, but some students have not yet signed up.
Parents, please confirm with your student that they have completed the sign-up process and know which three presentations they’ll attend. Presenters for Career Day were invited based on the survey completed by students back in September.

FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (2025-26)
Seniors and parents, the 2025-26 FAFSA form is now available. Completing this form is crucial for financial aid eligibility. Here’s how to get started:

The simplified FAFSA now pulls data directly from the IRS, streamlining the process. You must grant permission to connect to the IRS to be eligible for financial aid. Even if you don’t expect to qualify for federal aid, many colleges require the FAFSA for merit or institutional aid.

Michigan Achievement Scholarship: 7 out of 10 Michigan students qualify! Simply complete the FAFSA and attend a college in Michigan to be eligible. Learn more here: https://www.michigan.gov/mistudentaid/programs/michigan-achievement-scholarship
