Updates from Counseling for the week of 12/1/25 through 12/5/25

Week of 12/1/25 through 12/5/25

CHS CAREER DAY 2025

The annual Chelsea High School Career Day will take place on Tuesday, December 9th. Students will have all their regular classes that day (but no Bulldog Block). Between 4th and 5th hour, there will be three sessions per student. We have 38 presenters at CHS from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm. Students registered for three sessions via their MINGA app on Tuesday, November 18th. Parents, please take this opportunity to ask your student which three careers they signed up for. These conversations can help students to explore and think about their future.

Freshman small group meetings with counselors

Counselors are meeting with their caseload 9th-grade students in order to get to know them and set up expectations for their next 4 years in high school.

Military Visits at CHS

The United States Marines will be in the counseling career room on Wednesday, December 10th at 1:40 pm. Interested students can sign up for the visit in Naviance.

SAT SCORE

Seniors, did you retake the SAT and earn a higher score? Then you need to email Mrs. Kay the score report from your College Board Account.

Next Steps for Seniors

  1. Complete the FAFSA - see Blog from the Week of 10/20/25 through 10/24/25 for instructions.

  2. Follow all communications from the colleges you applied to. They will email you at the email address you used on the Common App. They will let you know if you have been accepted, and if you have, they will ask you to set up an account with their university portal; this is where you will receive information about your financial aid package

  3. Information about Financial aid packages is typically released in February or March. Compare your financial aid offer letters.

  4. Once you select a college (the deadline to do so is May 1st, 2026), pay the deposit, and follow their checklist: apply for housing, attend orientation, etc.

  5. In May, Ms Kay will send you instructions for ordering your final official high school transcript. You need to send this transcript (it will go out at the end of June) or the university will prevent you from registering for your classes in the fall.

Thank you for staying up to date with these important announcements. Please don’t hesitate to contact the Counseling Office with any questions: (734) 433-2243.
