Week of 12/15/25 through 12/19/25
HOLIDAY BREAK 2025
The Counseling Office Staff would like to take this opportunity to wish you a restful and joyful holiday break. Happy New Year!
College Visits at CHS
This week, on Tuesday, December 16th, we welcomed a visit from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). On Wednesday, December 17th, the Universal Technical Institute visited CHS. We do not have any college visits scheduled for January, but stay tuned. They usually pick up again in the spring.
January 6th Bulldog Block 12th grade meeting about local scholarships
Mr. Mann, our scholarship chair, will lead a meeting with all seniors in the auditorium about local scholarship opportunities. Maryellen Ferro from the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation will be here to explain the scholarship opportunities available through that organization.
Freshman small group meetings with counselors
Counselors are meeting with their caseload 9th-grade students in order to get to know them and set up expectations for their next 4 years in high school.
SAT SCORE
Seniors, did you retake the SAT and earn a higher score? Then you need to email Ms. Kay the score report from your College Board Account.
Next Steps for Seniors
-
Complete the FAFSA - see Blog from the Week of 10/20/25 through 10/24/25 for instructions.
-
Follow all communications from the colleges you applied to. They will email you at the email address you used on the Common App. They will let you know if you have been accepted, and if you have, they will ask you to set up an account with their university portal; this is where you will receive information about your financial aid package
-
Information about Financial aid packages is typically released in February or March. Compare your financial aid offer letters.
-
Once you select a college (the deadline to do so is May 1st, 2026), pay the deposit, and follow their checklist: apply for housing, attend orientation, etc.
-
In May, Ms Kay will send you instructions for ordering your final official high school transcript. You need to send this transcript (it will go out at the end of June) or the university will prevent you from registering for your classes in the fall.
Thank you for staying up to date with these important announcements. Please don’t hesitate to contact the Counseling Office with any questions: (734) 433-2243.
