Updates from Counseling for the week of 2/23/26 through 2/27/26
Week of 2/23/26 through 2/27/26
Next week
Trimester 2 is coming to an end. Make sure to check your PowerSchool grades, submit any missing assignments by the deadline, and prepare for your exams next week.
Scheduling
We would like to remind students and parents that there are no more scheduling changes for this year. There were three opportunities to change the students’ schedules this year: one in May/June 2025 when they received their schedule, one at the beginning of the school year 25-26, and the final one at the end of trimester 1.This was advertised and announced in multiple ways. Please do not request to change your trimester 3 schedule, unless there is an emergency or a very serious concern.
For the year 26-27, students have submitted their course request sheets, signed by a parent. Counselors are currently working on following up with students who need forms, and fixing any issues and mistake. The master schedule for 26-27 has not been created yet.
Juniors
Counselors are meeting with juniors whose parents did not make it in for junior-parent appointments on 2/17 and 2/18. Counselors are sending follow-up emails with information to juniors and their families.

Next Steps for Seniors
- If you haven’t already, make sure to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) - see Blog from the Week of 10/20/25 through 10/24/25 for instructions.
- Follow all communications from the colleges you applied to. They will email you at the email address you used on the Common App. They will let you know if you have been accepted, and if you have, they will ask you to set up an account with their university portal; this is where you will receive information about your financial aid package
- Information about Financial aid packages is typically released in February. Compare your financial aid offer letters.
- Once you select a college (the deadline to do so is May 1st, 2026), pay the deposit, and follow their checklist: apply for housing, attend orientation, etc.
- In May, Mrs. Kay will send you instructions for ordering your final official high school transcript. You need to send this transcript (it will go out at the end of June) or the university will prevent you from registering for your classes in the fall.
Groups
Our Peer 2 Peer and SAGA students meet weekly. We are currently running a DBT group and a CBT group about anxiety and depression to support our students. If you have a mental health concern for your student, please reach out to the assigned counselor for assistance:
